Less rain in October is prompting authorities to lower water allocation in Metro Manila, which might lead to scheduled water interruption again.

The water level in Angat Dam, which supplies water in Metro Manila, dropped to 186.23 meters from about 191 meters in the last week of September, according to National Water Resources Board (NWRB) Executive Director Sevillo David Jr.

Therefore, the NWRB may lower the water supply allocation for Metro Manila from 46 cubic meters per second to 40 cubic meters per second.

David mentioned that the lower supply allocation will remain until the water level in Angat Dam “recovers.”

However, this implementation hasn’t been coordinated with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) yet.

Meanwhile, Maynilad and Manila Water have already announced that they will implement water supply interruptions for up to 18 hours starting Thursday, October 24.

David emphasized to not waste water and recycle it as much as possible.
