Animal Rescue PH, an independent volunteer and indigent animal rescuer from Manila, posted on their Facebook Page last Tuesday (November 26, 2019) regarding these cats that were found on the side of a high-rise building in Makati with the caption, “RIP FOR THE 2 CATS IN MAKATI.”

Along with the post is a screenshot of the message that was sent to the Page stating that two cats already fell off and they had a hard time rescuing them as they were located at the inaccessible of the building. Unfortunately, the management of the building allegedly refused to let them use the building’s resources.

Another attached photo in the same post is a statement to reassure concerned citizens and animal lovers from Seda Residences Makati which says that “every possible effort was made to help bring back the cats to safer ground.”

We interviewed the admins of the said Facebook Page regarding the post and here’s what they told us:

“‘Yung sa pangyayari po ba? Hindi kasi nagkaroon ng coordination, pati ‘yung reporter ‘di na nagbigay ng update [at] pinapabura na ang post. ‘Yun pala, empleyado siya doon [at] pinagalitan na daw ng big boss. Madaming nag-ppm sa amin na mga nagwowork doon, madami din ang mga netizens na tumawag sa BFP Makati (Bureau of Fire Protection Makati). Ang sabi ng isa, ‘di daw pinapasok dahil meron daw silang safety protocol na sinusunod kaya ‘di narescue ‘yung pusa. Namatay daw ‘yung mga pusa. Gabi daw, nahulog daw. ‘Yun lang ang sabi ng mga nagwo-work doon. Ayaw din nila madamay sa issue dahil mawawalan sila ng trabaho. Kami naman, ipinost lang namin ‘yan kasi humihingi ng help ‘yung reporter. Nung una, sinabihan nga namin sya agad na makipagugnayan sa BFP sa Makati para makuha ang pusa. Ang sabi naman ng isang nagwowork doon, may 200 pesos per head na binabayad sa mga bawat pusa na mahuhuli. ‘Di na daw nila alam kung saan dinadala o kung ano ang ginagawa. Ang pahayag lang po namin, ‘di lang nagkaroon ng proper coordination. Madami naman willing magrescue na expert at may mga gamit sana pinagbigyan nila, at may nagpm din sa amin na merong gondola ang building na ginagamit sa paglilinis ng bintana, pero ‘di nila ginamit para makuha ang pusa. Nakakaawa lang ang sinapit ng dalawang pusa.”

We also reached out to Seda for additional statements but were told most of their managers are on leave and therefore couldn’t provide any statements from their end.
