Sadly, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there are no visitors who will enjoy the blossom of over 5.3 million flowers.

If there is no pandemic, the Hitachi Seaside Park is usually packed with tourists during spring to see these blooms. However, it has since been closed starting April 4 due to the outbreak.

“To prevent further spread of the new coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19), we have decided to temporarily close the park from April 4, 2012 (Saturday) for the time being,” the park posted on its website.

The park said that they will start harvesting these flowers on May 11. After that, they will prepare the park for planting kokia. The leaves and stems of this plant turn from green to bright red in October, which is in time for autumn.

If you want to take a sneak peek of the park, you can go on a virtual tour here.
