After President Rodrigo Duterte suspended classes in all levels across Metro Manila from March 10 to 14, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that students are no longer allowed to loiter in public places in Metro Manila.

According to a statement released today, “The President has directed all local officials in NCR (National Capital Region) from mayor down to Punong Barangays (village captains) as well as all units of the Philippine National Police to ensure that no children are seen loitering around and, if they are seen, they are to be immediately sent home to do their homework.”

These public places are specified as movie houses, malls, public markets, and other crowded places.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año also encouraged parents to help enforce the order by not allowing their kids to go out.

Yesterday, the Department of Health announced 10 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 24. The cases are admitted in various hospitals.
