Larry Tesler, the man behind the famed cut, copy, and paste commands, passed away three days ago, February 17th, 2020. And while his name is not lauded like the likes of Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, we definitely owe him a lot for making computers more accessible and easier to handle, giving us commands for our everyday life.

While working for Xerox PARC in 1973, Tesler was able to work on Gypsy, a word processor where he would eventually make up terms for repositioning words with cut, copy, and paste. Because of this, computers became easier to use and made them more personal rather than solely belonging to research and laboratories.

Tesler later worked at Apple and then co-founded a company that made it easier for children to learn about programming called Stagecast Software.

Tesler contributed immensely to the modern computer and without these seemingly small commands, word processing and all would definitely be more difficult. Thank you, Larry Tesler!
