The Quezon City local government is placing 20 areas of five barangays under a “special concern lockdown” after it was found that these places had a high number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown will start on Wednesday, May 13, and will last for two weeks.

The areas included are as follows:

  • Sitio Militar

Culiat

  • Vargas Compound-Adelfa
  • Metro Heights-Abanay
  • Ancop Canada

Sauyo

  • Lower Gulod

Batasan Hills

  • 318 Dakila St.
  • 2nd Alley Kalayaan B
  • Masbate St.

Tatalon

  • Victory Avenue
  • ROTC Hunters
  • BMA Avenue
  • Agno St.

Quezon City Assistant Administrator for Operations Alberto Kimpo confirmed to CNN Philippines that the areas were selected by the City Health Department based on the results from the community-level testing.

Affected residents will be provided with food and assistance during the lockdown. “Intensified testing and monitoring” will also be conducted during the two-week period to contain the spread of the disease.

The City Health Department, Quezon City Police District, Special Action Force, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Joint Task Force-National Capital Region will act as quarantine officers to enforce the lockdown.
