As Luzon’s enhanced community quarantine extends another 2 weeks into May for certain areas, the public anticipates government plans for the ‘new normal’ that awaits us afterward.

In a taped address that aired late Monday night, President Rodrigo Duterte addressed these concerns. He announced that they were considering the implementation of a ‘modified quarantine’ in some areas across the country.

Malapit na. ‘Yung iba naka-lockdown pa rin. Tayo, we might open partially,” he said in a televised speech.

[It’s soon. Other areas will still be on lockdown. Us, we might open partially.]

However, the president said government officials still need time to consider the specifics of such a plan.

“We might open partially, construction workers and things like that. You wait for the… lalabas na ho, lalabas na ‘yung modified and ano natin quarantine,” Duterte added. “We will allow sectors of society na hindi talaga nagdidikit-dikitan. Kaya modified muna eh.

Last Friday, the Philippine government extended the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Albay, and Catanduanes until May 15.

Other low-risk and moderate-risk areas will be under a general community quarantine until mid-May.
