Most of the time, people find it hard to make time to relax and break free from the daily hustle and bustle they go through. It’s really ironic how the act of finding means to destress can be stressful in itself. But while some might find it stress-relieving to engage in physical and social activities, we found another way to calm down and relax without even having to do anything. All we had to do was lie down and listen to singing bowls. (And fall asleep, too, probably—because it was THAT calming.)

Sound Healing 10 - Music Can Be Stress-Relieving: We Tried Sound Bath Healing and Here’s How It Went

Out of the usual and ordinary, Sound Bath Healing actually traces its roots back to ancient times. Diwata Isidro, a Sound Bath Practitioner in Manila who trained in Nepal, uses Tibetan singing bowls which were handmade under full moon nights in Nepal to conduct this old form of healing and meditation. These instruments produce natural sounds that create vibration. Merely through one’s listening capacity and without any physical manipulation, this sound bath produces an effect by waking up stagnant frequencies in the body through the vibration of the singing bowls. Sound Bath Healing is designed to work with the body’s subtle energy while pure natural sounds are at play.

Ms. Diwata Isidro, a Sound Bath Healer and a yogi, says that this kind of healing is best for those who are stressed and people with mental health problems. Without actually stressing yourself out on how to calm down, sounds administered in the healing will allow your body to react voluntarily to the good vibrations and natural sounds produced in the session.

Sound Bath Healing can make you feel at ease as it turns restlessness into regeneration. While the overall Sound Bath Healing experience helps in relaxing and replenishing the mind, it also stands as a great manifestation of how music has been explored to be helpful to humankind.

For those who will try Sound Bath Healing for the first time, I’m pretty sure it would be a fun and unique experience for you. Trying it for the first time myself, I did not expect it to be as relaxing as it was. The singing bowls can look intimidating at first, but during the session, the sound they produced made me feel like I achieved inner peace. I felt my body twitch a little a couple of times. Ms. Diwee, the facilitator, said it’s normal (and a great manifestation of how the sound bath healing works!) because the sessions are all about creating good vibrations that can transcend the mind. Although I felt like I was close to sleeping because the sounds we were listening to were so peaceful, I enjoyed every bit of it–especially how I felt mentally replenished afterward.
