Hyun Bin Crash Landing on You - Hyun Bin Secretly Donates P8.5 Million to Help Fight the Coronavirus

Just a week after his Crash Landing on You co-star Son Ye-jin donated W100 million (roughly the equivalent of P4.2 million), Hyun Bin also joined the relief efforts by donating W200 million (roughly the equivalent of P8.5 million). The surprising part? He did it in secret.

According to reports, the actor did not tell his agency that he donated the amount to the non-profit organization Community Chest of Korea. He also told the organization to keep it a secret.

The news only broke out when Hyun Bin released a letter, coursed through his agency. His letter reads:

“You might be spending day after day anxious and worrying over the Coronavirus disease 2019 which is occurring all over the world and throughout Asia including China and Japan as well as Korea. I’d like to ask after your health at least by writing to express my worry over whether the place you are at is safe.

Just as we’ve always overcome difficulties by cheering each other on despite difficult times, I hope the Coronavirus disease 2019 passes by as soon as possible.

I also appreciate those working tirelessly day and night to eradicate the virus, and I will cheer them on until the end. Furthermore, I sincerely wish the quick recovery of those suffering from its infection.

Again, I hope all those reading this are able to maintain their safety and health from the virus and I will pray this incident safely passes by.

The coronavirus situation in Korea

On February 26, the palace declared a travel ban for Filipino travelers going to South Korea due to the rising coronavirus threat. However, it quickly lifted it, now allowing Filipinos to travel to South Korea’s tourist spots. According to the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), there is now a total of 5,328 cases, with at least 32 deaths. This day alone, the country recorded 516 new cases. Most cases are located in Daegu.
