In a move to ensure the citizens’ health and safety, Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, together with the city council, passed two resolutions and an ordinance. The first resolution declares that Pasay City is under a State of Calamity, brought about by increasing cases. As of March 14, data from the Department of Health (DOH) shows that in Pasay City, there are already 30 Persons Under Monitoring (PUM), 9 Persons Under Investigation (PUI), and 2 confirmed Covid-19 patients confined in the hospital.

On the other hand, the second resolution urges all malls and other similar establishments within Pasay to close temporarily. Not only does this encourage social distancing, but it discourages mass gatherings, which can cause the disease to spread.

And finally, the ordinance states that a curfew will be imposed during the community quarantine. This means that no one is allowed to stay in streets, establishments, recreation centers or other areas outside their homes from 8 PM to 5 AM daily. The only exception is for emergency purposes— buying food and necessities, or for work-related travel.

The movement of goods and cargo within Pasay City will not be affected during the quarantine, according to the official memo. Read more about the official memo here.

Stay safe, everyone!
