(These Utilities Are Allowing Delayed Payments In Light of COVID-19)

“‘Pag pinag-quarantine ka ng employer mo, whether you have symptoms or not, at wala ka nang leave credits, it will be DOLE that will subsidize the employer,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III told radio DZMM.

[If your employer asks you to go on quarantine, whether you have symptoms or not, and you’ve used up your leave credits, it will be DOLE that will subsidize the employer.]

Bello explained that the employee will simply have to present the employer’s memorandum ordering a 14-day quarantine due to the COVID-19 outbreak to the Labor Department. He clarifies that DOLE will be covering an employee’s leave days only in the event that their leave credits have been fully utilized.

Unfortunately, non-regular employees will not be covered by this policy but will be looked after by DOLE’s emergency employment program.
