Butte County Public Health’s statement explains that the COVID-19 patient received their test results 1 day after attending the religious service. Those who attended the service have been duly notified about their exposure and have been asked to adhere to strict self-quarantine measures.

Officials are currently working on getting all the attendants tested for COVID-19.

“At this time, organizations that hold in-person services or gatherings are putting the health and safety of their congregations, the general public and our local ability to open up at great risk,” said Butte County Public Health Director Danette York.

Meanwhile, the Philippines recently allowed for religious gatherings to take place in areas under either modified enhanced community quarantine or general community quarantine. However, religious gatherings are subject to a 5-person limit for areas under MECQ and a 10-person limit for areas under GCQ.
