The COVID-19 crisis has people thinking of different ways to combat and prevent the virus. There have been many speculations on what to do or eat so you don’t get infected. One of these is the rumor that eating bananas can prevent COVID-19 infection.

Even though bananas are a good source of vitamins, the DOH says that eating bananas doesn’t prevent COVID-19 infection. In a press conference, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire says that there are no studies that confirm that bananas prevent COVID-19 transmission.

She also reiterates that bananas are good for the body and people can still continue eating it. However, people shouldn’t think that they are immune to the virus once they start eating bananas often.

As of writing, the COVID-19 virus has infected more than 200 people in the country. The President has also declared a State of Public Health Emergency and State of Calamity due to the crisis.
