Now might be the perfect time to schedule a stargazing date with your friends. It seems that June 2019 will be a good month for astronomy lovers because Jupiter will be at its biggest and brightest, according to NASA. The space agency said that it will make its closest approach to our planet. So close that you can even see it with the naked eye. Get a binocular and you could also see some of its largest moons. “The solar system’s largest planet is a brilliant jewel to the naked eye, but looks fantastic through binoculars or a small telescope, which will allow you to spot the four largest moons, and maybe even glimpse a hint of the banded clouds that encircle the planet,” the space agency said.

NASA also recommends that the best time to see Jupiter this year is on June 10 when it reaches opposition. This means that Jupiter, the Earth, and the Sun are arranged in a straight line. The biggest planet in the solar system will be visible in the sky all night and it’s the time when it is closest to Earth. Don’t worry if ever you’re not free that night. Even though the opposition takes place on that specific day, the entire month around the opposition is still a good time to observe the planet and some of its moons.

If you’re still hungry for more, NASA suggests visiting their website for more awesome photos of Jupiter. The photos were taken by the Juno Spacecraft which is currently orbiting the planet.
